Increasing the Bottom Line
The Challenge
An active six doctor orthopedic clinic in southern Florida had relied on a stock and bill vendor to handle all of their DME needs. Completely unaware of the volume of DME passing through the clinic, once the doctors where exposed to the potential revenue impact of the MSM system, it did not take them long to make a change.
The Solution
There was little interruption to the clinic’s current operation because MSM's program supplied an ATC Physician Extender— an individual that had been integral to the clinic’s operation. The difference was that MSM’s ATC was responsible for managing the DME inventory. This allowed the doctors to have the freedom to source any DME, not just the products their previous stock and bill vendor had to offer.
Having relied exclusively on the previous vendor, the clinic’s administrator had little knowledge of the value associated with the DME that was prescribed and dispensed. By switching to MSM’s system, the administrator could now utilize MSM’s web-based reporting tool to view the DME used by the clinic and consult with the doctors on payer mix. The doctors could now make better-informed decisions and the administrator could view cost savings and revenue opportunities for each month.
"We decided to partner with MSM to gain access to a revenue stream that historically had not been part of the clinic. Web-based reporting and inventory management are now a critical part of our overall operation," said the clinic’s administrator. |
